Aneesh Gokhale is a Navigating Officer in the Merchant Navy, having begun his career in 2012. He has sailed mainly on cargo ships on worldwide voyages. Currently, he is studying for his Chief Officer and Master’s (Captain) exam. Aneesh also has an avid interest in writing, and reading – especially history. A love borne out of his passion to trek and hike the mountains. He has trekked extensively in the Sahyadris, his curiosity leading him to discover the glorious history attached with the hills and forts. The amalgamation of all these interests and passion came to life in 2012 when Aneesh wrote his first book –Sahyadris to Hindukush. Today, he is the author of two more books – Battles of the Maratha Empire and Brahmaputra, ‘The Story of LachitBarphukan’. Brahmaputra is awaiting a launch soon by Bloomsbury. The first two books are about the Maratha Empire while the latter tells the tale of a brave warrior from the Northeast India.He has also given talks on Indian history on various occasions, notably at the inaugural Pondicherry Lit Fest, INTACH Delhi, Pune Lit Fest and such other events in the literary world. His articles on Indian History have been widely published in DNA Newspaper, Swarajya Magazine, IndiaFacts, Indic Today, TFI Post and various other online and offline publications. An article by him on Chhatrapati Shivaji has also been published on Springer.
